And He made us a kingdom and priests unto God and His Father. That is to say, a Church of all believers; as also the Apostle Peter says: A holy nation, a royal priesthood. 1 Peter 2:9

Oecumenius

Being made a kingdom and priests is a great gift from God: That human beings should have been considered worthy of these both confirms for us the kingdom to come and promises ineffable glory in the present. For this is greater and more wonderful than washing away our sins in his blood, and deserves to be called the gift of God, just as our appointment as priests and prophets of God without having made any kind of previous offering is the mark of such a gift.

priests. Because the King of kings and heavenly Priest united us unto His own body by offering Himself for us, there is not one of the saints who has not spiritually the office of priesthood, in that he is a member of the eternal Priest.

St. Beatus of Liébana

“And hath made us a kingdom, and priests to God and His Father.”

‘And because He has suffered and risen from the dead for us, He Himself has constructed a kingdom, so that we are won to become priests of God the Father. For He has made the kingdom ours when He suffers and rises.

“To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.”

‘Offer to God, the Creator of all things, eternal praise and timeless glory.’ _____________________________________________________________

Haydock Bible

And Christ hath made us a kingdom, inasmuch as by his grace he has made us members of his true Church, called the kingdom of God, and promised us to reign with him in his glorious kingdom in heaven. --- And hath made us priests to God, and his Father, to offer up spiritual sacrifices. See 1 Peter ii. 9. --- To him be, or is due, glory and empire, for ever and ever. Amen. That is, to Jesus Christ. (Witham)
